I guess I was a bit too naive to expect to get a solution for XP. TL,DR: you should use a maintained OS and you should not expect the open source community to support them for you. There are even a (now dormant) project to replicate the Windows XP UI: ndwarshuis/CinnXP.įYI, Wine lets you run Windows software on GNU/Linux. Just so you know, you don't have to stick with Ubuntu if you do not like it, the Linux world is full of alternatives: I can suggest you to take a look at this article if that interests you. I think it is crazy to expect the maintainer to spend time to make this works whereas there are so many compelling reasons for you NOT to use an OS as old and unmaintained as Windows XP (ever heard of WannaCry?). Windows XP has been released almost 18 years ago, all the industry leaders has abandoned it 3 years ago. If that is not too complicated, I encourage you to open a pull request with a fix.
